Who am I?

I am Dr. Orobosa Owie

Dr. Orobosa Owie is a Professor of Health Administration, Brand Advisor, International Speaker, and Author of the book Be Bold, Be Confident, Be You- A Motivational Guidebook for Shattering the Fear Ceiling. As a former United Nations Youth leader, Dr. Orobosa created and hosted a series of programs and events that focused on providing the next generation of emerging leaders with the essential tools, resources, and advice needed to succeed. Impressed by her impact within the NYC Young Professionals community, Dr. Orobosa was invited by President Obama to be a part of a round table discussion at the White House in 2014 to discuss the launch of the administration’s Young African Leaders Initiative and its Nelson Mandela Washington Fellowship.

 

Dr. Orobosa is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Docs of the Scene, a creative branding agency for women in medicine and global leadership. She is also the creator and host of the Power of My Identity Podcast, a show dedicated to empowering women of color on how to use their cultural upbringing and uniqueness as a tool to thrive in their careers. In her pursuit to continuously cultivate and mentor future professionals, Dr. Orobosa is also a Faculty Member at Monroe College with the School of Allied Health. Dr. Orobosa holds a doctorate and master’s degree in Health Administration degree from Capella University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration from Lehman College.

With a strong passion for instilling knowledge in professionals from all walks of life, Dr. Orobosa is also an Adjunct Faculty Member of the Department of Allied Health at Monroe College. In her role as a faculty member, Dr. Orobosa teaches Public Health Administration and Epidemiology and serves as a student mentor. During her academic pursuit, Dr. Orobosa has served as a program creator and guest lecturer at several ivy league institutions inclusive of New York University, Columbia University, John Jay College and the University of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria.

Dr. Orobosa is a firm believer in holistic leadership and community affairs. She is the Brand Ambassador for the Small Business Development Center at Rutgers University and the immediate past director of the United Nations Association African Affairs Committee. As a former United Nations Youth leader, she created and hosted a series of programs and events that focused on providing the next generation of emerging leaders with the essential tools, resources and advice needed to succeed. Her mantra, “The power of effective change lies within each individual” stems from her work as a public speaker and global youth advocate. In 2007, she spent six months in Nigeria as a Youth Campaign Manager during the country’s political elections. Her role was to ensure that the youth of her assigned constituency had equal and safe opportunities to exercise their right to vote. Since then, Dr. Orobosa has become a highly sought-after servant leader who has been featured on the Forbes Coaches Council and New Jersey Small Business Development Center Council at Rutgers University. Also, she has been endorsed by several prominent leaders and esteemed academic institutions inclusive of New York State Senator Leroy Comrie, Former African Union Ambassador Antonio Tete, and Former Deputy Representative of Ghana William Awinador-Kanyirige, New York University, Columbia University, Baruch College, York College and the University of Benin. Orobosa continues to strive for greatness through her mission and commitment to transform communities globally by empowering emerging leaders to take action today to cultivate a better tomorrow.

Dr. Orobosa has a doctorate and master’s degree in Health Administration from Capella University. She also graduated Cum laude and received her bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from the City University of New York- Lehman College. Also, Dr. Orobosa has intensive training in management and leadership development. She has received certificates in organizational management, leadership development, performance and quality improvement, understanding financial health systems, IT performance and communication trends for business executives.
